Ranpak was founded in 1972 to create the first eco-friendly system that protects products during transportation. Today, Ranpak is one of the world's largest manufacturers of paper-based packaging material and systems. The company has more than 900 employees worldwide, and its activities stretch to all four corners of the world. The EMEA headcount is about 500 employees. It has earned its reputation as innovative leader in the packaging industry thanks to the continuing development of its material, systems and concepts for comprehensive packaging solutions.

The company, whose mission is ‘Deliver a Better World’, supplies innovative solutions for the protection of products in a way that produces advantages for companies, customers and the environment. The bedrock of Ranpak is a revolutionary business model that has sustainability, innovation and service as its core values. It is driven forward by a leadership team of packaging experts and a strong network of distributor relationships, and is continually hunting for opportunities to expand its product range and geographical footprint.

Ranpak also creates solutions designed around automated packaging solutions in customers’ warehouses. These solutions increase productivity, require lower staffing and reduce logistic costs, improve sustainability, and enhance the customer experience.

Responsibility for the environment is at the very heart of Ranpak. All its packaging materials are entirely made of natural materials, which helps fulfil its overriding ambition to bring supply chains in balance with the environment.

Finding the right packaging to develop protective in-the-box solutions that are carefully tailored to specific products and sectors has required a process of collaboration. Over the last few years, Ranpak has been transitioning from a traditional packaging company to a provider of total solutions.

Your role as HR Business Partner

As an HR Business Partner at Ranpak you play a central role in supporting the EMEA organization in a highly dynamic, international, and technical environment. You act as a trusted sparring partner for leaders and employees and translate business strategy and organizational challenges into effective, pragmatic HR solutions.

You work closely with the HR Director EMEA&APAC and gradually take ownership of a substantial part of the EMEA HR scope. While the role has a strong advisory and strategic component, it remains very hands-on and operational in nature, fully aligned with Ranpak’s no-nonsense culture.

You are comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment where performance, quality, and accountability are key. You are able to look beyond symptoms, identify underlying people or organizational issues and act decisively. With solid HR-systems, processes, and tools already in place, your added value lies in how you apply them to strengthen the organization and support sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the primary HR Business Partner and first point of contact for employees within EMEA;
  • Advising, coaching, and challenging leaders on performance management, talent development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness;
  • Independently managing complex employee relations cases, including performance improvement, absenteeism, reintegration, disciplinary matters and dismissals;
  • Executing and further developing the talent management cycle, including performance reviews, development plans, and follow-up actions;
  • Support recruitment activities;
  • Coordinating and managing the full onboarding and offboarding process;
  • Defining, improving, and implementing HR policies and processes, participating in audits, and supporting international HR projects in close collaboration with the HR Director EMEA&APAC.

Your profile

You are a mature and confident HR-professional who brings both credibility and approachability. You are comfortable taking ownership and responsibility, even when situations are complex or sensitive. You understand that effective HR in an operational, industrial environment requires both strong people skills and the courage to make tough decisions when needed.

You are pragmatic, resilient, and solution-oriented. Rather than relying solely on frameworks or theory, you know how to apply HR-tools and processes in a way that truly supports the business. You are able to operate independently, yet you value collaboration and know when to involve others. You communicate clearly and naturally connect with people at all levels of the organization.

You thrive in a dynamic, international environment and are not deterred by change, ambiguity, or operational pressure. You are equally comfortable discussing organizational structure and talent strategy as you are handling hands-on HR matters such as contracts, absenteeism cases, or urgent employee issues.

Your background and experience include:

  • A bachelor's degree in HRM, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field;
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner role, preferably within an international and technical or industrial environment;
  • Solid experience with complex employee relations, performance management, and organizational change;
  • A strong process-oriented mindset, combined with a hands-on, no-nonsense approach;
  • Fluency in English and Dutch, both spoken and written.

What does Ranpak have to offer?
