Your role as Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer at TRIDEC, you are the central link within technical R&D projects focused on steering systems and suspension solutions for the heavy-duty trailer industry. You are responsible for coordinating projects throughout the full development cycle from initial product requirements and concept development to industrialization and start of production.

You continuously collaborate with Product Management, R&D, Mechanical, Production Engineering and international stakeholders in both the Netherlands and Portugal. In this role, you ensure that projects are completed successfully from both a technical and organizational perspective, while maintaining oversight on planning, documentation, quality and project progress.

You will work on a wide variety of projects, ranging from product improvements and system upgrades to the development of specialized steering solutions for different trailer applications, including heavy transport. At the same time, you manage multiple ongoing projects, align priorities with internal stakeholders and contribute to bringing more structure and coordination to the project environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate mechanical R&D projects throughout the full development cycle, from concept phase to industrialization and start of production;
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, R&D, Mechanical and international stakeholders in the Netherlands and Portugal;
  • Align activities between departments such as Engineering, Production Engineering, Purchasing, Quality and Production;
  • Maintain oversight on project planning, documentation, milestones, quality and progress across multiple ongoing projects;
  • Translation of market, product and business requirements into technical project activities;
  • Identify risks, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities and take proactive action where needed;
  • Contribute to improving project structure, coordination and communication within a dynamic and fast-changing engineering environment.

Your profile

You are an organized and hands-on professional who performs well in a dynamic and technically driven environment. You are able to maintain overview, communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with different stakeholders across the organization. With a proactive mindset and strong sense of ownership, you take responsibility for multiple ongoing projects simultaneously and feel comfortable working in an environment where priorities can change quickly. You have good multi-tasking skills and like to learn new things on the job.

You enjoy working in an international engineering environment with short communication lines and a high degree of independence. You are not afraid to ask questions, take initiative and help bring structure to projects and processes. At the same time, you are technically strong enough to understand complex systems and communicate effectively with engineers and technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • A completed technical education with bachelor’s degree or equivalent mindset, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related technical field;
  • 4–10 years of experience in technical projects or engineering environments;
  • Affinity with or experience in project management within a technical or manufacturing environment;
  • Affinity with mechanical systems and hydraulics;
  • Understanding of NPI (New Product Introduction) processes is an advantage;
  • Strong ability to understand and work with technical documentation and engineering processes;
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities simultaneously;
  • Experience in the heavy-duty vehicle, trailer or automotive industry is considered a strong advantage;
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken (Dutch, Portuguese or German is considered a plus);
  • The role is primarily office-based, although occasional travel may be required to support colleagues, suppliers, and customers;
  • Experience with CAD, ERP or PLM systems is considered a plus;
  • A pragmatic, goal-oriented and hands-on mindset with a proactive and collaborative attitude.
